PHIL DELANEYPhil Delaney
President

Phil Delaney was 18 when he started his own company in 1965. Then, he and his wife, Eileen began their corporation, DAC, or Delaney Automotive Corporation, which is an importer, distributor, and manufacturer of automotive products. He also specializes in movie memorabilia and with Eileen, his lovely wife of 28 years; they have a business called Archives of History, which includes Eileen’s collection of historical documents.

Phil’s dedication to the non-profit world started back in Newport Beach, where he was involved with the Women’s Club and the YMCA. But, his passion for this area took off when he moved to Fallbrook. He feels that now is the time for giving back to the communities that he loves.

When Phil moved to Fallbrook, he became involved with the Boys and Girls Club, joining theboard of directors and served as President. He has been on the boards of the Fallbrook Village Association and the Art and Cultural Center. Delaney’s highlights on the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce board include an increase of their membership from 400 to about 650. Mr. Delaney served as President of the Chamber Board.

Phil and Eileen are dedicated to Philanthropy in every aspect, donating their time, resources and financial contributions to numerous charitable organizations throughout North County, San Diego. They prefer to do this quietly and without recognition.

He was honored at the 2005 North County Philanthropy Council as one of the Volunteers of the year and his passion for the Legacy Endowment Foundation came through with his statement: “Being an integral part of the restructure and growth of the foundation has been most rewarding.  With the funds that have been raised, it is gratifying to know that this will be our “legacy” to future generations whose lives will be enriched and will benefit from our planning.” We, at Legacy are honored to have this dedicated individual who truly does “make the world a better place to live”.

Roy AnsellROY ANSELL
Vice-President

Roy Ansell graduated from London University and Centre D’Etudes Industrielles – Geneva, Switzerland. 

He worked for Alcan Aluminum Limited – Montreal Canada from 1950 – 1986, in Europe, North America and Asia.

Since 1986 Roy has been a Director, Treasurer, Vice President and/or President of the following organizations:
• American Association of Individual Investors (San Diego)
• Fallbrook Music Society
• Fallbrook Youth Task Force
• Rotary Club of Fallbrook
• Rotary Club of Fallbrook Foundation
• Investment Committee Chair of Legacy Endowment Community Foundation

Roy is passionately dedicated to the philosophy of philanthropy, spending countless volunteered hours managing the endowed funds for Legacy Endowment, so that our community’s charities will benefit for generations to come. Roy is equally enthusiastic about his involvement with the other nonprofit organizations that he commits his time to selflessly.

His focused objective is to keep abreast of all the Governmental requirements for the nonprofit organization. His motto for ‘honesty and integrity’ in the nonprofit world is implemented by our ByLaws, Policies and Procedures - that the Board has passed in order for us to be in compliance with all rules and regulations set forth by our Government.

Jon FrandellJON C. FRANDELL
Secretary

Jon has been in the Financial Services business since 1979. He graduated with a B.A. from Whittier College in 1971. He has been a Registered Representative of NYSE/NASD since 1993. Jon holds California State Life, Disability and Variable Annuity Licenses. He also has 13 years of commercial banking experience in local community banks.

With his extensive background in financial services, he is a valuable asset to Legacy Endowment, overseeing the quarterly Financial Statements, Budget and annual audit.

A significant aspect of Jon’s life is that he feels it is important to give back to the community that one lives in. He has volunteered for a variety of local organizations. He has served on the Boards of The Boys and Girls Club of Fallbrook Foundation, The Rotary Club of Bonsall, The Fallbrook Music Society, The Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce, The Boy’s & Girl’s Clubs of North County the Rotary Club of Fallbrook and, of course, Legacy Endowment.

Mark HvastaMARK HVASTA
Treasurer

Mark A. Hvasta is a partner in the firm Levering & Hvasta, CPAs LLP. Mark graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1988 and became a certified public accountant in 1991. He spent 12 years at the Big 4 accounting firm KPMG providing professional tax and information technology services and several years in industry where he was Director of Operations and Business Development for Computer Horizons Corp, and then Head of Global Tax Systems for Merrill Lynch, both in New York City.

Mark now resides in Carlsbad California with his wife and two children. Mark is president of the Rotary Club of Bonsall (for the 2010/2011 year), a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Society of CPAs and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is a on the Board of Directors of the following organizations: the San Diego Chapter of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, Legacy Endowment...The Community Foundation and Wounded Warrior Farms.

DIRECTORS

Domenick ArenaDOMINICK A. ARENA
Director

Dominick and his wife, Barbara, have lived in Bonsall since 1989. His daughter, Catherine attended Bonsall elementary and Fallbrook High school.

He has been in management of high tech medical device companies and private equity venture capitals. Prior to the co-founding of Leucadia Equities, Dominick was President of Smiths Medical Critical Care following its acquisition of Medex Inc. in 2005. After leading a highly successful management buyout of Medex in 2001, Dominick served as its President and Chief Executive Officer. Dominick had previously led the Healthcare division of the Furon Company. He also served as the President of three medical device manufacturers:

AnaMed International, Hudson Respiratory Care, and Respiratory Care Inc. Dominick has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare market and currently serves as a Director for a number of healthcare companies. Dominick received a B.S. in Chemistry from Le Moyne College.

With his background, Dominick is a powerful asset to Legacy Endowment…The Community Foundation, volunteering his time and lend his knowledge to enhance our Investment Committee towards decisions that will ultimately benefit our beneficiaries.

Karen EstesKAREN ESTES
Director

Karen Estes grew up in the North County and has dedicated ties to the communities that she lives in and supports.

Karen’s family moved to Fallbrook in 1970 and she attended Bonsall Union School. Graduating from Fallbrook Union High School, Karen earned her Associate of Arts in General Education (AA Degree) from Palomar College. She went on to graduate from the University of California, Irvine (UCI) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.

Following college, Estes went to work for J. Neal Estes Insurance and Real Estate in Fallbrook (1982). In 1987, she bought the insurance business from her father prior to his retirement. Estes is currently affiliated with Teague Insurance Agency, acting as an independent contractor writing business with various insurance companies. She holds the designation of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) , attended the Aetna Institute of Corporate Education in Hartford as well as hundreds of hours of other seminars and courses.

Estes was an original Director for Southwest Community Bank based in Carlsbad from 1997 until they were acquired by Placer Sierra Bank in 2006.

A valuable commodity to Fallbrook, she is involved in a number of community services including being a member and past Director of the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce, member of the Bonsall Chamber of Commerce, Charter Member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Bonsall and Past President of the American Association of University Women in Fallbrook.

Alexander IrvingALEXANDER IRVING
Director

Alexander Irving is co-principal of ‘Esche & Alexander’ Public Relations, a national communications and marketing firm based in San Diego, CA. Currently the President of the St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center Board of Trustees, Mr. Irving brings to his post a diverse and extensive professional background in marketing and sales communications, educational training and motivational programs for business and industry, as well as a strong personal commitment to the well-being of the St. Madeleine Sophie’s community.

Formerly the founder, president and executive director for New York City-based ATI Multi-Media Communications, Mr. Irving produced communications ranging from ‘live’ Broadway style shows, to video, film, slides and multi-image presentations. He is the recipient of numerous Gold and Silver Awards at the prestigious International Film and Television Festival of New York for business communications excellence on behalf of his Fortune 1000 clients. These clients include American Express, AT&T, IBM, Citibank, Lockheed, American Cyanamid, Mobil Oil, New York Stock Exchange, Pfizer, Roerig Pharmaceuticals, Carter-Wallace Pharmaceuticals and Corning Glass among many others.

Alex Irving has also served as President of Concepts & Producers, Inc., Vice-President of The Image Bank in New York and Director of Communications for PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) based in Orange Country. He is a graduate of the Juilliard School Of Music in New York, and has an extensive background in the performing arts. He is also an instrument-rated pilot, recreational diver and PADI scuba instructor among other special interests.

Bill LewisBILL LEWIS
Director

Bill has over 25 years of experience in resource development for the advancement of a broad range of nonprofit organizations and institutions including hospitals, private schools, colleges and universities. His expertise includes:

Bill has served over thirty clients during his consulting career with the prestigious firms of John F. Rick Company, Marts & Lundy, Inc., Development Management Associates, and Netzel Associates, Inc. He held the position of Director of Development of El Centro Regional Medical Center, where he was awarded the Outstanding Professional of the Year in 2003 by the San Diego Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Bill is a Certified Fundraising Executive and a member of the San Diego Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. He is a former director and chair of the Certification Committee for the national organization, Certified Fund Raising Executive International, and continues to serve as advisor there. He served as host Committee-Member for the 2008 Association of Fundraising Professionals International Convention, and is past president, current director, of the North County Philanthropy Council. Former director of the Rotary Club of El Centro, Bill is a current member of the Valley Center chapter. He is also a director and strategic planning chair of the Valley Center Chamber of Commerce.

Bill holds a Masters Degree in Social Sciences from the University of Northern Colorado, and a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Tri-State University of Indiana.

William MetcalfBILL METCALF
Director – Investment Committee Chair

Bill Metcalf is the Fire Chief for the North County Fire Protection District, which serves the communities of Fallbrook, Bonsall, and Rainbow in northern San Diego County. Chief Metcalf came to the District in June 2003 from the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District in Incline Village, Nevada. Bill has worked in the emergency services field for nearly 35 years, beginning his career in Maryland and also working in Colorado, Texas, and Nevada before moving to Fallbrook.  In addition to his leadership role in the local community, Chief Metcalf also serves as a national and international fire service leader through his role as Treasurer of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) and as Treasurer of the International Fire Service Policy Center and Research Institute (IFSPCRC).

Chief Metcalf has a long history and background in non-profit organization leadership and financial management. In addition to his role as Treasurer for the IAFC and IFSPCRC, he has served as the Executive Director for the Emergency Medicine Foundation, the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services. He has also served on the Board of a number of community-based and international non-profits. He is a past-member of the Rotary Club of Fallbrook and is currently the Immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Bonsall.

Prior to moving to Fallbrook as Fire Chief, Bill worked in Incline Village, Nevada where he witnessed the formation of a community foundation – the Parasol Foundation - that fundamentally changed the non-profit organization environment in the community. Parasol provides coordination, facilitation, administrative services, and office space to many non-profits in the community. Through the foundation’s efforts, non-profits are significantly more effective in both fund-raising and their charitable initiatives. The community benefits from this better-coordinated and organized non-profit effort. Based on this previous experience with a community foundation, Chief Metcalf looks forward to achieving the same positive results here in our community through the Legacy Endowment. Bill and his wife, Dotty, reside in Fallbrook.
